Sapling Project

Our team still has TWO BIG projects left! There is no way that we can finish planting tea tree saplings in two villages AND make 10 water filters before we leave, so most of the volunteers decided go to Pa Shi and help plant this weekend instead of taking the weekend off. We helped provide 3,600 saplings!!!

These are for 6 families in Pa Shi. These trees will provide an opportunity for those who received them to have a steady source of income that is low maintenance. They will also be able to cultivate even more saplings from the seeds that the trees produce, which means over time they will be able to increase their production.

We planted on steep hills of these mountains. They are SO steep that we fell many times. I was so scared that I would roll down the mountain. It was the hardest physical labor work I’ve done while being here. I respect the work these farmers put into harvesting their crops!

I am so grateful for all the opportunities that I faced while being here. I learned to work harder, love more, respect others, accept a new culture, and etc. More importantly, I learned to be more humble through examples and warm hearts of the Lahu villagers in Fang. I am so grateful for the kindness I received from this beautiful country.
